Hey all.  I was curious to find out who all would be joining me in November in the drumline at the first camp!  I'm Andrew, and I'll be auditioning on snare.  I guess just list a few facts about you, preferable drumline/drum corps related.

I'm Carolyn and I'll be auditioning for the bassline.  I don't have tons of expierence, since I've never marched corps before or anything and my high school line is mediocre at best, but I really want to get better and I figure that this will be a great expierence.

Who else is auditioning for bass?

Hey guys,

Im Chad and i am the percussion section head for
Dublin Coffman High School

I will be mostly auditioning for snare but i probably will try for tenors
and maybe even a bass drum spot.
I'm a senior now so hopefully ill march Capital Regiment before college
I look forward to seeing everyone in november!!
it should be fun!

one more thing

im assuming that this drumline would play traditional grip?
my high school plays matched grip however i've been working
on my traditional grip technique a lot.... and i mean a lot.

how much do you think it would affect me since i've not played traditional for very long
but i think i'm getting pretty good and i take private lessons so that helps?

Hello Chad,

     Great.  Dublin Coffman.

As to you playing matched grip versus traditional, I would definitely continue to work on the traditional.  I believe Tim Overturf will be playing traditional.  Make sure you work that left hand.

If you see this is a problem during the audition, make sure you talk to the staff.  If you think you're having trouble with traditional and would rather switch to Tenors or Bass Drum, make sure you talk to them about that.

Good luck to all of you.  Bring some friends.  Bring Brass and Guard people.

Hello, again. I got a friend who is a senior and she will most likely be trying out on tenors. she's our drum captain and i think another one of our seniors is coming to audition either for snare or bass!

Hey, this is Ben Pax, and im a Senior at Liberty High School and am looking forward to auditioning for snare.  This is my first season on snare, but constant practice, as well as lessons and tons of help from Capital Reg. Alumni Ted Smith has helped me come a long way.

See you guys at auditions!

Keep those introductions coming guys!  I look forward to seeing all of you in November.  I am so psyched for this.  What do you guys all think of the warm-up book we have so far?

Hey guys, I'm Kevin Hankins and I'm trying out on snare drum. I'm a junior and I've been playing snare for 3 years now. I'm the captain for the drumline at South Oldham High School in crestwood, KY. right outside of louisville. My instructor for the past few years has been will stephenson who used to be capitan at capital for 3 years i think. I tried out for memphis sound last season... but the timing was bad and the conditions weren't great. But I am very excited about trying out this year! see you all in a few months!

Oh and the book is suprisingly easier than i expected. but i know that means that a lot of curveballs will be thrown in here and there. I've been looking at starting on the opposite hand and coming up with any kind of variation i can think of. and maybe i missed it, but i didn't see a flam excercise up, which really suprises me. so i'm gonna be working on stuff like that too.

I don't know about everyone else, but I think it would be a good idea if we could post pics of ourselves so we when get to the camp, we know some people already. If anyone can post pics and tell me how, that would be AWESOME!!!

The book doesn't look too bad. I was expecting some crazy stuff since I have seen other corps audition books from past years. But I think we can all play it.  I think the bass tech for Capital Regiment may be our battery instructor from my high school... I think....

Good Luck and Have Fun!!!
