Hello everybody,

I'm Steve Teleky, I'm trying out this year for trumpet.

I just have a question what the hornline needs for the auditon,
Do we need to put together a piece to show our playing ability for the December audition camp? I downloaded the chorals and warmups for the hornline, I just dont want to show up and not have the right stuff.

 Grin Thanks guys!

I do not know how it worked last year for the first camp, BUT, we don't have any announced brass staff so I don't know what to say. Besides practice...

The new music staff (whoever they may be) have not been announced or said anything so no one really knows.

Hey Guys,

Good dialog.  As to the question about having something to audition, here is what we ask every year.  It isn't just for the past season.

We ask each of the brass people to have something they can play that is somewhere around a minute to minute and a half or so.  We are very general with this as we simply tell people to be able to play something you are comfortable with.  If that means something you played in marching band, that's great.  And if you want to do this on your own instrument, that too is fine.

What we are looking to find is what a persons talent, skill and range is.  We would like to make sure we get the placement of the player correct.  Meaning, if we put someone on lead trumpet, perhaps they may be better served on 2nd part.  That's all we're looking for and as simple as it gets.  So if you have something you're comfortable with, that's all you need.

Let me know if you have any other questions.  We'll do what we can to respond.  Looking forward to meeting everyone next weekend.  Bring FRIENDS.
