AMAZING CAMP HORNLINE!!!!!!!!!!!

Now to look ahead...

We all were told what to work on by the brass staff. Hit that stuff and hit it hard between now and Jan.!!!!!

The hornline hustled their butts off this camp. KEEP THIS UP!!!!!! if we keep moving and making progress like we did this weekend. We will again earn our nickname as the, "East Coast Powerhouse"

I am very guilty about this next bit. We need to get in shape. PT probably starts next camp, and we need to come in ahead of the curve. I suggest lots of push-ups  Afro

We changed some visual elements of our technique and spent a ton of time on arc etiquette. Work on these changes, we need to push the line to catch up with us this summer.

I can't wait to see you all, please work on what we have been instructed to work on and we will show people why the judges and fans could not get enough of Capital Regiment in '09!!!

Nah, Fuse was doing a pretty good job of outplaying the entire hornline by himself today.  Grin

I just wanted to say...I loved your sound yesterday. For how many people were there, it was just incredible!! And the first choral was awe-inspiring with the singing!! (:

The camp was phenomenal!  With the vets and rookies working together, we far exceeded expectations of the staff.  We should all be proud of what we accomplished this weekend Smiley
I completely agree with Fuse about getting in shape.  There are plenty of options if you can't manage visiting a gym:
Push ups are always an option.  You can do them just about anywhere and they don't take very long.  Just doing a few sets of ten a day will make a difference.
I'm going to share what I told the bari section because it really helped me out in conditioning for last season.
Since our ballad last summer was "Hello" by Evanescence, I turned on the CD and would stand at horns up for the entire song.  It's fairly easy to put on a song you like and just stand there with the proper posture.  It'll give you a sense of how quickly you get fatigued.  Just pick a song you like!  It'll distract you from the burn, I promise  Afro Doing this once a day will make an improvement.
I understand it's cold out, but everyone should be running.  Jog around the block or do sprints in your backyard.  I wouldn't suggest running in Wal-Mart though because those ladies will yell at you and it'll scare you straight.
I'm so excited to see the progress we can make on our own by next camp!

Also for building arm strength to hold up your horn - if you don't have weights of any sort, save a gallon jug from milk or something, fill it with water, and hold it up with correct posture (like Alyssa said) for as long as you can. That in addition to push-ups will help a ton. Slowly you can build up how long you can hold the gallon up, and eventually maybe you'll want to try it just with the left arm, since that's the arm that hold the most weight from the horn.
I remember getting this tip from someone before, so I thought I'd pass it on.

p.s. I would suggest keeping the cap to put back on the jug after you fill it ;]

The hornline sounded reallly good yesterday. Good job guys! And yea Fuse, you pretty did play louder than everyone. And any rookies out there and returners, do work on the arm strength. You'll find out during everydays why I say this.

For anyone who has asked me if I am coming back for baritone or not, I am thinking about it and will know in January if I will or not.
